Councillor Carra called the meeting to order at 9:32 a.m.

No opening was given at today's meeting.

Councillor Colley-Urquhart assumed the Chair at 9:33 a.m. and Councillor Carra returned to his regular seat in Committee.

INTRODUCTION

Councillor Farkas introduced a group of students from David Thompson School in Ward 11, along with their teachers Trista Strickland, Heather Feke and Meagan McMorran and volunteer tour guide Dianna Dryden and Cheryl Peters.

    That with respect to Report CPS2017-1142, the following be adopted, after amendment:

    That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommend that Council:

    1.  Direct Administration to work with Metis Nation of Alberta Region 3 to develop a Metis Nation of Alberta Region 3 Policy Implementation Guide that is reflective of their culture and history no later than the end of Q4 2018.

    2.  Direct Administration to set up an Official signing and formal acknowledgement of the Council approved indigenous Policy to include the Metis Nation of Alberta Region 3 Treaty 7, City Council and the City of Calgary.

    That in accordance with Section 197 of the Municipal Government Act, Committee now recess to reconvene in Closed Meeting in the Council Lounge, at 9:33 a.m., to discuss Personnel Matters with respect to Report CPS2017-1151 pursuant to Sections 17, 19, and 24 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

    That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommend that Council:

    1. Direct Administration to maintain recognition as an age-friendly city with the World Health Organization, the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Government of Alberta by refining key performance indicators that are currently in development,
    2. Direct Administration to bring forward for consideration an indicator reporting plan and any resource requirements in the context of the One Calgary 2019-2022 service plans and budget, and

    3.  Receive this Report and Attachments 1 and 2 for information.

    That with respect to Report CPS2017-1124, that the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommend that Council:

    1. Approve the recommended FCSS allocations of $8 million for 2018, $3.7 million for 2019 and $1.2 million in 2020, as detailed in the Attachment; and

    2.  Authorize Administration to access up to $750,000 from the FCSS Stabilization Reserve in 2018 for the purpose of funding capacity-building initiatives and responding to emerging social issues.
