  That the Minutes of the 2018 May 15 Regular Meeting of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Assessment Committee, be confirmed.

Consideration of a Non-statutory Public Hearing on the 2026 Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games, OPC2018-0657

  That with respect to Report OPC2018-0657, the following be approved, after amendment:

  1. That the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Assessment Committee does not recommend to Council the holding of a non-statutory public hearing at this time;

  Against:  Councillor Farrell

  That with respect to Report OPC2018-0657, the following be approved, after amendment:

  That the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Assessment Committee:

  2. Direct Administration to report back on options for the public input to be heard by the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Assessment Committee.

6.3

Discussion on Vote of Electors (Plebiscite), OPC2018-0655

• Moved by Mayor Nenshi

  That with respect to Report OPC2018-0655, the following be approved, after amendment:

  That the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Assessment Council Committee ask the Returning Officer to return to Committee no later than June 2018 with the following:

  • potential questions based on the current proposal on the questions and explanations, after consultation with Committee members and the City Manager;
  • recommendations on a date for the Vote of the Electors, which may include a Saturday; and
  • recommendations for funding.

2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Vision Update, OPC2018-0683

A PowerPoint presentation entitled "2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Assessment Committee", dated 2018 May 29, with respect to Reports OPC2018-0683 and OPC2018-0687, was distributed.

  That Item 6.4, Report OPC2018-0683, be postponed to be dealt with during the Closed Meeting portion of today's Agenda.

  That the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Assessment Committee move into Closed Meeting, at 11:45 a.m., in the Council Boardroom, to consider confidential matters with respect to the following items subject to Sections 23, 24 and 25 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act:

  • Item 6.4, Report OPC2018-0683; and
  • Item 6.5, Report OPC2018-0687.

  2. Direct that Attachment 3 to Report OPC2018-0683 and the closed meeting discussions remain confidential pursuant to Sections 23, 24 and 25 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
