CONFIRM AGENDA, Moved by Councillor Stevenson, that the Agenda for the

2016 March 02 Regular Meeting of the SPC on Community and Protective Services be confirmed.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE SPC ON COMMUNITY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES, 2016 FEBRUARY 03

                                       

CONFIRM MINUTES, Moved by Councillor Woolley, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the SPC on Community and Protective Services, held on 2016 February 03, be confirmed.

On behalf of the SPC on Community and Protective Services, Councillor Colley-Urquhart welcomed Kurt Hanson, in attendance at his first meeting as the General Manager of Community Services.

4.1

AMENDMENT TO FIRE OPERATIONS AND FEES BYLAW 55M2014,     CPS2016-0083

 

 

RECOGNITION

Fire Chief Steve Dongworth recognized Fire Marshal Ed Kujat on his upcoming retirement. Councillor Colley-Urquhart, on behalf of the SPC on Community and Protective Services, thanked Mr. Kujat for his 28 years of service to The City of Calgary.

 


 

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Pootmans, that the Administration Recommendation contained in Report CPS2016-0083 be approved, as follows:

 

That the Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services recommends that Council give three readings to the proposed bylaw to amend Bylaw 55M2014, City of Calgary Fire Operations and Fees Bylaw (Attachment 1).

4.2

2016 CRIME PREVENTION INVESTMENT PLAN FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS, CPS2016-0149

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Woolley, that the Administration Recommendation contained in Report CPS2016-0149 be approved, as follows:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommends that Council approve the 2016 Crime Prevention Investment Plan allocations identified in Attachment 1.

4.3

CALGARY TREE DISASTER - RECOVERY AND RESTORATION ANNUAL UPDATE, CPS2016-0202

 

DISTRIBUTION

 

At the request of Administration and with the concurrence of the Chair, the Legislative Assistant distributed copies of a Power Point Presentation entitled “Calgary Tree Disaster – Recovery and Restoration Annual Update”, dated 2016 March 02, with respect to Report CPS2016-0202.

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Carra, that the Administration Recommendations contained in Report CPS2016-0202 be approved, as follows:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommend that Council:

 

1. Receive for information the Calgary Tree Disaster – Recovery and Restoration Annual

    Update; and

 

2. Direct Administration to report back to Council, through the SPC on Community and

    Protective Services, no later than 2017 Q2 on the Recovery and Restoration progress.

CALGARY PARKS PROPOSED ENHANCED MAINTENANCE PROGRAM REVIEW, CPS2016-0198

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Chu, that the Administration Recommendations contained in Report CPS2016-0198 be approved, as follows:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommend that Council:

 

1.    Receive this report for information; and

 

2.    Direct Administration to report back on the program review and future state options no later than Q1 2017.

PROPOSED 2016 SPECIAL TAX BYLAW, CPS2016-0199

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Pootmans, that the Administration Recommendation contained in Report CPS2016-0199 be approved, as follows:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommend that Council give three readings to the proposed 2016 Special Tax Bylaw (Attachment 1).
