This meeting was conducted in accordance with the Procedure Bylaw 44M2006, as amended.

 

ELECTION OF ACTING CHAIR

 

Following nomination procedures, Councillor Demong was elected Acting Chair of the Legislative Governance Task Force.

 

 

RECESS, Moved by Councillor Keating, that the Legislative Governance Task Force recess at 1:07 p.m. to reconvene upon adjournment of the Priorities and Finance Committee.

CARRIED

 

The Legislative Governance Task Force reconvened at 2:01 p.m. with Mayor Nenshi in the Chair.

CONFIRM AGENDA, Moved by Councillor Jones, that the Agenda for the 2016 June 07 Regular Meeting of the Legislative Governance Task Force be confirmed.

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES

 

2.1

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LEGISLATIVE GOVERNANCE TASK FORCE COMMITTEE, 2016 MAY 17

 

CONFIRM MINUTES, Moved by Councillor Jones, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Legislative Governance Task Force, held on 2016 May 17, be confirmed.

ITEMS FROM ADMINISTRATION AND COMMITTEES

 

3.1

SWEARING-IN CEREMONY, LGT2016-0388

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Pootmans, that the City Clerk’s Recommendations contained in Report LGT2016-0388 be approved, as follows:

 

That the Legislative Governance Task Force recommend that Council:

 

1.    Rescind Council Policy ‘Swearing-In Ceremony and Reception (CC0016)’;

 

2.    Approve the new Council Policy ‘Swearing-In Ceremony‘; and

 

3.   Approve Attachment 2 to this report, concerning the general format of the Swearing-In Ceremony for both a general election and by-election.

3.2

COUNCIL CHAMBER OPERATIONAL MATTERS POLICY, LGT2016-0389

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Keating, that the City Clerk’s Recommendation contained in Report LGT2016-0389 be approved, as follows:

 

That the Legislative Governance Task Force recommend that Council rescind the Council Chamber – Operational Matters Policy (CC032).

LGTF 2014-2017 WORK PLAN Q2 2016 UPDATE, LGT2016-0464

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Chabot, that the City Clerk’s Recommendation contained in Report LGT2016-0464 be approved, as follows:

 

That the Legislative Governance Task Force recommend that Council approve the updated Legislative Governance Task Force 2014 – 2017 Work Plan as presented in Attachment 1.
