CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Gondek called the meeting to order at 9:32 a.m.

OPENING REMARKS

Mayor Gondek provided opening remarks and Councillor Spencer provided a traditional land acknowledgement.

Councillor Wong introduced a group of Grade 6 students from St. Joseph School (Ward 7) along with their teacher Karen Spelay.

Mayor Gondek recognized 2023 March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. 

A presentation entitled "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination" was distributed.

Mayor Gondek recognized 2023 March 31 as Transgender Day of Visibility.

Topic: Update on downtown revitalization discussion.

Topic: 311 responses to stormwater drain issues.

Topic: Engagement with the Federal Government regarding gun control legislation.

  Council recessed at 12:02 p.m. and reconvened in Closed Meeting at 1:18 p.m. with Mayor Gondek in the Chair. 

  Councillor McLean (Remote Member) joined the meeting at 3:09 p.m.

  Council reconvened in public meeting at 3:30 p.m. with Mayor Gondek in the Chair.

  That Council delete Recommendation 1 in the Confidential Presentation in its entirety and renumber the remaining recommendations accordingly.

  That Council:

  1. Direct that the Closed Meeting discussions and Confidential Presentation remain Confidential pursuant to Sections 21 (Disclosure harmful to intergovernmental relations), 23 (Local public body confidences and 24 (Advice from officials) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; and

  2. Notwithstanding Recommendation 1, direct Administration to finalize and release the 2023 YYC Matters campaign priorities per discussions and continue planning and implementation in lead up to the provincial election.

  4.  Direct that notwithstanding recommendation 3, the Confidential Presentation may be released to the Executive Leadership Team, to be further shared with Administration only where required to support next steps.
