CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA

                                         

AMENDMENT, Moved by Councillor Woolley, that the Agenda for today’s Meeting be amended by adding an item of Urgent Business entitled “Overview of Community Services Organizational Framework (Verbal), VR2016-0008,” to be dealt with immediately following Confirmation of the Minutes.

MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SPC ON COMMUNITY AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES, SITTING AS THE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES (FCSS) BOARD, 2016 JANUARY 15

                                       

CONFIRM MINUTES, Moved by Councillor Stevenson, that the Minutes of the Special Meeting of the SPC on Community and Protective Services, sitting as the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Board, held on 2016 January 15, be confirmed.

At the request of Administration and with the concurrence of the Chair, the Legislative Assistant distributed copies of a PowerPoint presentation entitled, “E-Cigarette Exemption Update CPS2016-0042”, dated 2016 February 03, with respect to Report CPS2016-0042.

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Chu, that the Administration Recommendation contained in Report CPS2016-0042 be approved, after amendment, as follows:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommends that Council receive this report for information.

 

And further, that the distributions received with respect to Report CPS2016-0042 be attached to the report prior to being forwarded to Council.

THE FUTURE OF COMMUNITY-BUILDING SCOPING STUDY, CPS2016-0107

At the request of Ms. Evans and with the concurrence of the Chair, the Legislative Assistant distributed copies of a letter from the Federation of Calgary Communities regarding The Future of Community-Building Scoping Study, dated 2016 February 02, with respect to Report CPS2016-0107.

 

CHANGE TIME OF SCHEDULED RECESS, Moved by Councillor Pootmans, that, pursuant to Section 91(3) of the Procedure Bylaw 44M2006, as amended, the scheduled time of recess be changed in order to complete today’s agenda,.

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Woolley, that the Administration Recommendation contained in Report CPS2016-0107 be approved, after amendment, as follows:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services recommends that Council refer this report and recommendation to Administration to report back to the SPC on Community and Protective Services, by no later than 2016 June 01, with a Terms of Reference for a steering committee, an engagement plan, and any implications for the work plan and timeline, with consideration given to the discussion and input provided at the 2016 February 03 meeting of the SPC on Community and Protective Services.

 

And further, that the distributions received with respect to Report CPS2016-0107 be attached to the report prior to being forwarded to Council.

4.1

OVERVIEW OF COMMUNITY SERVICES ORGANIZATIONAL FRAMEWORK (VERBAL), VR2016-0008

 

APPROVE, Moved by Councillor Carra, that with respect to Report VR2016-0008, the following be approved:

 

That the SPC on Community and Protective Services receive the Verbal Report, Overview of Community Services Organizational Framework, for information.

RECOGNITION

 

On behalf of the SPC on Community and Protective Services, Councillor Colley-Urquhart recognized General Manager Stuart Dalgleish in attendance at his final meeting as the GM of Community Services and Protective Services.  Councillor Colley-Urquhart provided a token of appreciation for his service to the SPC on Community and Protective Services and wished him luck on his new role as the General Manager of Planning and Development.

Councillor Woolley welcomed Kurt Hanson into his new role as the General Manager for the Community Services and thanked GM Dalgleish for his work with the SPC on Community and Protective Services while leading the Community Services & Protective Services Business Unit.
