CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Gondek called today's Meeting to order at 9:33 a.m.

ROLL CALL

Councillor Carra, Councillor Chabot, Councillor Chu, Councillor Demong, Councillor Dhaliwal, Councillor McLean, Councillor Mian, Councillor Penner, Councillor Pootmans, Councillor Sharp, Councillor Spencer, Councillor Walcott, Councillor Wong, Councillor Wyness, and Mayor Gondek.

OPENING REMARKS

Mayor Gondek provided opening remarks and a traditional land acknowledgement.

Dr. Leroy Little Bear, University of Lethbridge, provided a presentation entitled "Metaphysics: Intersecting Western and Native Ideas, Resilience from a Blackfoot Perspective".

Councillor Dhaliwal (Remote Member) left the meeting at 9:46 a.m. and joined at 9:51 a.m. in the Council Chamber. 

​The following documents were distributed with respect to Opening Remarks:

• A presentation entitled "Metaphysics: Intersecting Western and Native Ideas, Resilience from a Blackfoot Perspective"; and
• A document entitled "Councillor Information & Communications Package".

Climate Discussion (Verbal), C2022-0539

Councillor Chabot (Remote Member) left the meeting at 10:12 a.m. and joined at 10:19 a.m.

Mayor Gondek left the Chair at 10:31 a.m. and Deputy Mayor Demong assumed the Chair.

Mayor Gondek resumed the Chair at 10:33 a.m. 

The following guest speakers addressed Council with respect to Verbal Report C2022-0539:

By General Consent, Council modified the lunch recess to begin at 12:15 p.m.

  That Item 5.1 Climate Discussion (Verbal), C2022-0539 be postponed to be dealt with following Item 6.1.1. Energy and Greenhouse Gases (Verbal), C2022-0540.

  Council recessed at 12:17 p.m. and reconvened at 1:20 p.m. with Mayor Gondek in the Chair.

• Council returned to this Item following Item 6.1.1.

  By General Consent, pursuant to Section 6(1) of Procedure Bylaw 35M2017, Council suspended Section 78(1)(b) of the Procedure Bylaw to forego the afternoon recess.

  That with respect to Verbal Report C2022-0539, the following be adopted:

  That Council receive the presentation for the Corporate Record.

  That pursuant to Section 24 (Advice from officials) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Council now move into Closed Meeting, at 1:22 p.m. in Virnetta Anderson Hall, to discuss confidential matters with respect to Item 6.1.1 Energy and Greenhouse Gases (Verbal), C2022-0540.

  And further, that Kristine O’Rielly and John Rilett, External Facilitators, be authorized to attend the Closed Meeting.

  Councillor Dhaliwal (Remote Member) left the meeting at 1:51 p.m.
