OPENING REMARKS

The City Clerk called the Organizational Meeting of Council to order at 2:00 p.m. and provided a traditional land acknowledgement.

Elder Rod Hunter provided a Nation to Nation greeting.

SWEARING-IN OF MAYOR-ELECT

The City Clerk called The Honourable Associate Chief Justice John D. Rooke forward to administer the Oath of Office to Mayor-Elect Jyoti Gondek.

3.

SWEARING-IN OF COUNCILLORS-ELECT

Mayor Gondek administered the Oaths of Office to the following Councillors-Elect:

Ward 3 Jasmine Mian

Ward 5 Raj Dhaliwal

Ward 6 Richard Pootmans

Ward 7 Terry Wong

Ward 8 Courtney Walcott

Elder Rod Hunter and his son, Anders Hunter, provided the Honour song.

Mayor Gondek provided remarks to those in attendance and watching the live stream.

  That Council appoint Councillor Demong as the Deputy Mayor for 2021 October 25 - 2021 November 01.

RECESS TO 2021 NOVEMBER 01, 9:30 A.M.

  Seconded by Councillor Wong

  That Council recess, to reconvene in the Council Chamber on Monday, 2021 November 01, at 9:30 a.m., to continue with the 2021 Organizational Meeting of Council.

  MOTION CARRIED

  Council recessed at 2:55 p.m. on 2021 October 25.
